About Our Pastor - Rob Carr

Rev. Rob Carr has lived for most of his life in the Greater Kansas City area. He attended Kansas State University and received a degree in history in 1977. He studied at the Divinity School of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, receiving a Masters of Divinity Degree in 1984.

Rob has served churches in Washington state; Overland Park, Kansas; Kansas City, Kansas; and Fort Scott, Kansas. He began his service at North Oak Christian Church in February 1999.

From 1996 to 1998, Rob took part in the Academy for Spiritual Formation, a comprehensive program of study in the field of Christian Spirituality.  Rob is also trained as a teacher of centering prayer, a simple form of silent open-ness to God, practiced for centuries in the Church and being renewed in our time.  (For more information on centering prayer, see our "Related Links" page.)  His primary calling is in equipping and encouraging people to explore and deepen their lives in Christ...allowing themselves to be ever more open to Christ's loving and gracious and challenging invitation to "follow."

Rob is married to Kathy and together they parent four children ages 28, 25, 18, and 15. Oh yes: they also attempt to parent a Golden Retriever named "Midas" but their efforts in this regard are mixed at best.
